vertebrae, installation view, faux fur, latex, 2017

Vertebrae displaces the spine—long a marker of upright humanity, hierarchy, and distinction—and lays it on the ground, unsettling human-centered modes of thinking. The installation opens a field of encounter in which familiar dualities such as human/animal and nature/culture begin to dissolve, giving way to relational forms of life in constant becoming. Within overlapping umwelten, the work imagines a shared terrain animated by zoe: a generative pulse through which bodies emerge as porous, interdependent, and continuously reshaped through their encounters.
