old she-hyena, performance, 2015

old she-hyena

Old She-Hyena is a performance and installation conceived as a wearable sculpture, activated through a live performance in San Francisco in 2015. Rooted in the figure of the artist’s grandmother, the work draws on ancestral memory, multispecies kinship, and shamanic notions of transformation. Through ritual inhabitation, the body becomes porous and inverted, allowing interior elements to spill outward and challenging fixed boundaries between human and more-than-human worlds. The work proposes a relational, ever-becoming corporeality shaped by memory, myth, and ongoing exchange with its surroundings.
